Welcome! I’m Dr.Alagarraja, Scientist & Assistant Professor (AcSIR) at CSIR-CECRI, specializing in Energy and Electrochemistry (EEG). My research centers on developing sustainable, low-cost recycling technologies for spent lithium-ion batteries and e-waste materials, transforming them into high-performance materials for batteries and supercapacitors. With a Ph.D. in Chemistry focused on lithium-ion battery recycling, I am passionate about creating greener, economically viable pathways for energy storage materials. Through my work, I aim to contribute to an energy-efficient, circular, and environmentally responsible future. I actively collaborate with researchers, industry partners, and students working in battery recycling, electrochemistry, and advanced energy storage. Feel free to connect if you’d like to explore research opportunities or collaborations.
At the Energy and Electrochemistry Group (EEG), we focus on developing sustainable solutions for the future of energy storage. Our work bridges electrochemistry, materials science, and environmental sustainability to create innovative, high-performance materials from recycled resources.
We specialize in:
Transforming spent lithium-ion batteries and e-waste into valuable electrode materials using cost-effective, green recycling methodologies.
Designing and developing next-generation materials for lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and supercapacitors with improved performance and durability.
Development of new electrocatalytic systems (catalysts, supports and ion-transporting materials) for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR), and N2 reduction reaction (NRR).
Developing new concepts and techniques for studying and analyzing nano-confined electrochemical reactions.
